On the first day of tournament,
Zhong Xiao Long from China made the first tee-off of the Ladies Asian Golf Tour
first time ever held in China. The WuYi Championship officially began.
Over
half number of players finished the competition before noon and the current leading
player was China's Ye Li Ying who scored 69 with four birdies on the first nine
and two birdies on the back nine. Korea's Moon Hyun Hee, US's Libby Smith and
Japan's Kumiko Fuchi were one stroke behind Ye. However, the tournament turned
into a sudden change in the afternoon. Korea's 20 years old player Park Han Nim
who is ranked 55 in KLPGA made par on hole no. 7, 8 and 9 with beautiful long
drives and finished with 67 which is the best score of the day. Another 20 years
old Korean lady Lee Joo Eun also hit a 3 under par with same score of Ye Li Ling
both set on the 2nd place.
Fifteen players scored under par today. They
were Korea's Hong Ran and Shin Hyun Ju who had finished at 70 same as Moon, Fuchi
and Smith. Also, Korea's Kim Soon Hee, Japan's Hiroko Tanabe, Momoyo Yamazaki,
Kazue Tanaka and China's Zhong Xiao Long, Zhang Li Chun, Zhang Na had returned
with score 71 all set at the 9th place. The good results of the players had showed
the high standard of the tournament. People are all looking forward for great
scores from the 110 lady golfers,
The most interesting thing of the first
day's tournament happened on the dog leg hole no. 15. Many players failed on this
difficult hole which was considered today's busiest hole for the referee to visit.
